Stir together the tomato puree, olive oil, salt, basil and garlic and set aside for about 1 hour (not in the fridge).
Sprinkle some flour on your work surface and roll out the pizza dough.
Cut shapes that fit into the waffle iron.
Spread oil on 1 side and place this side at the bottom on the baking tray. Spread oil on the other side and close the iron.
Bake the waffles until golden brown.
Meanwhile, heat the tomato sauce.
Serve the pizza waffle with the tomato sauce and top with Parmesan cheese, mozzarella and a few basil leaves.
For an extra Mediterranean touch: add olives, pieces of Parma ham and sun-dried tomatoes as a topping!
